Reasons for a visit
What people come in for
These are reasons people give for booking, not conditions we treat. Your acupuncturist asks what you are hoping for and plans from there.
Back, neck and shoulder aches
People who lift, drive or sit all day often come in for aches like these. Results vary.
Knees, hips and stiff joints
Mornings that start slowly, or knees that complain on stairs. Your acupuncturist may suggest a few ways to move, too.
Headaches
People come in for headaches that keep coming back. A sudden severe headache unlike any before is a reason to see a doctor first.
Sleep
People come in when sleep is light or short. Some say the quiet hour in the recliner room is worth the visit on its own.
Stress and feeling on edge
Some people find an hour with nothing to do but rest helps them feel steadier. It does not replace therapy or your medicine.
Digestion
Upset stomachs and a poor appetite are on the list too. Tell your doctor about anything that keeps happening.
What acupuncture does not do, and when to see someone else
Acupuncture does not diagnose, and it does not replace your doctor, your medicines, therapy or emergency care. Results vary from person to person.
If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline), any time. Veterans can press 1 after dialing 988. In an emergency, call 911.
Call 911 first
Chest pain, trouble breathing, sudden weakness or numbness on one side, or a sudden severe headache unlike any before.
