Where you rest

The recliner room

The treatment room is one room, not a row of closed doors. Recliners sit a few feet apart, each with a blanket, a small table and a lamp nearby. Acupuncturists move from chair to chair.

Most people close their eyes, and some doze. You can talk quietly if you want to, or not at all.

What is here

In the room

  • Recliners

Cushioned chairs that tip back, with a footrest. You stay clothed and sit however feels right.

  • Blankets

A folded blanket at each chair. Ask for a second, or a bolster under your knees.

  • Low light and low voices

Lamps, not overhead lights, and a quiet rule. Phones stay on silent.

  • A table at your side

A small table holds your glasses, your water or a book while you rest.

  • Space for what you need

Tell us if you need a chair with a lift, a seat near the door, a visit without scents or someone to walk you in.

  • Tea afterward

A volunteer brings a cup before you go. Stay as long as you like.

Before you go

Tea and a few quiet minutes

When the needles are out, a volunteer brings tea and you stay as long as you want. The next person is shown to a chair while you finish. No one hurries you to the desk.
